"The political establishment has failed the Bay Area. A political outsider is needed in Sacramento."

California is broken. The budget is in crisis, our education system ranks among the lowest in the country, our crime rates are among the highest in the nation, and jobs are quickly disappearing from our state. The Bay Area has been dominated by politicians from one political party for the past few decades. Are you happy with the California that they have left us with?

There are connotations associated with being a conservative in the Bay Area. But I believe that there are also many misconceptions about what it means to be a conservative. At the end of the day, there are basic notions of common sense and personal responsibility that members of all political parties can agree on.

As a political outsider, I look at things differently than the way most established politicians look at things. I am not burdened by allegiances to special interest groups, and I am free to think through issues logically from beginning to end. I believe in simplicity, and I believe in the United States Constitution.

There is far too much hypocrisy in society today. Many people say one thing and then do another when they think others aren't looking. I believe there are definitive rights and wrongs in society, and I make a conscious effort to always do what I think is right. I hold myself to a high standard, and I don't ask anything of others that I am not willing to do myself.

A strong leader can bring about a complete change in the way government operates and in how individuals interact with and are involved with government. I believe that I am that kind of strong leader that the Bay Area and California needs representing them in Sacramento. That is why I'm running for California State Assembly in District 20. Together, we can make a difference.

Adnan Shahab wants your help to get him on the ballot

Our current system of government has been corrupted by money. Many political candidates solicit contributions from wealthy donors and special interest groups with the promise of special favors in return. These politicians then use that money to buy their way into office. And once they are in office, instead of doing what it right for society, they pay off those who helped them get into office with favorable legislation.

Adnan Shahab will not be controlled by wealthy donors and special interest groups. He believes in doing the right thing no matter what, not in doing things for only those who give him money. Instead of simply paying a filing fee and buying his way onto the ballot, Adnan has decided to get out in the community and get the signatures of people who believe in him and what he stands for.

In order to have his name placed on the ballot, Adnan needs to get the valid signatures of 1,500 registered Republican or Decline to State voters from Assembly District 20. The deadline for obtaining these signatures is March 12.

Adnan will be out in person talking to voters and getting signatures to get his name placed on the ballot. Be on the lookout for him and the many Shahab for Assembly 2010 volunteers who will be getting signatures in front of local coffee shops, grocery stores, and restaurants in the upcoming days and weeks.
